Play Therapy

Grow & Thrive Play Therapy is a Perth-based play therapy practice supporting children and families through compassionate, child-centred therapeutic care. Therapy is evidence-informed and delivered within a safe, nurturing environment where children are supported to explore, express and grow through play.

Sessions are available from a clinic space in Alfred Cove, with mobile services also offered across Perth, including schools and early learning settings.

At Grow & Thrive, therapy is guided by the belief that meaningful change occurs within trusting, attuned relationships. Play provides children with a natural and powerful way to communicate, process experiences and build emotional resilience—particularly when words are difficult to find.

What Is Play Therapy?

Play Therapy is an evidence-based therapeutic intervention based on the understanding that children express themselves most effectively through play, their primary mode of communication. Play therapists support children as they express themselves through toys and play in a safe environment. Through therapeutic play children begin to process their feelings, thoughts and behaviours while gaining greater awareness of themselves. Play also provides children with a psychological distance from reality, allowing them to explore emotions, thoughts and experiences. This creates space for children to work through problems that may otherwise feel too difficult or overwhelming.
